About Summer Erickson
registered psychotherapist (qualifying)
Therapy will always be the centre of my heart because it’s in the therapy room that I was able to explore, embrace, and heal the pieces of myself that were hurting. I want to do the same for my clients.
I graduated during the height of the COVID pandemic and began working as a case manager in community mental health. That experience taught me to look at my clients holistically - to consider all of the moving parts of your uniquely intricate life, and to approach your experience through a person-centred and trauma-informed lens.
When I’m not practicing, you’re likely to find me crocheting, reading a good book, or spending time with my friends and loved ones.

Specialties & Modalities
-
Life Transitions, Anxiety, and Depression
Together, we can make sense of the patterns you might feel stuck in. We can learn to understand the ways these patterns may have once helped or protected you, and how they might be getting in the way in today.
We can explore new ways of navigating your life, relating to your thoughts and emotions, responding to your needs, and making choices that feel more aligned with the life you want to build.
-
Relationships, Attachment, and Trauma
Not all painful experiences fit neatly into what we traditionally think of as trauma. Breakups, bullying, rejection, difficult friendships, and painful relationship dynamics can shape how we see ourselves, what we expect from others, and how safe we feel in our relationships.
-
Main Modalities: EFIT and CBT
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) - An attachment-focused approach that helps you better understand and work through deep emotions, shift emotional patterns that don’t feel helpful anymore, and develop a greater sense of emotional safety with yourself and others.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - A therapeutic modality that examines our thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and bodily cues to find new ways of looking at things and acting that are more in line with how we’d like our lives to look.
-
Secondary Modality: ACT
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) - A kind of therapy that helps people learn to make space for difficult thoughts and emotions rather than struggling against them, while still taking meaningful action toward the life they want.
