About Sarah Kennedy
registered psychotherapist, qualifying
I didn’t become a therapist because I have life figured out—I became one because I know what it means to need someone beside you while you find your way. Therapy taught me to get curious about the parts of ourselves we’re often hardest on. During my training, I began to understand that many of the ways we cope—though sometimes painful or frustrating—develop for a reason. That perspective became central to how I support others.
Working closely with children, adolescents, and families early in my career sparked a lasting interest in the emotional and relational experiences that shape us. This foundation continues to guide my work today, where I draw from attachment-based psychodynamic therapy to help clients explore what’s underneath the challenges they’re facing.
I believe therapy is an invitation to slow down, make sense of our experiences, and develop greater compassion for ourselves. I know firsthand that healing isn’t about becoming a different person—it’s about becoming more fully ourselves.
You’ll most often find me spending time with my family, making memories with my kids, travelling, and enjoying good food. I value the simple moments that remind me to slow down and appreciate life as it unfolds.

Specialties & Modalities
-
Attachment, Family Relationships, & Parenting
I support you in navigating challenging relationships, including parent-child relationships and patterns that can leave people feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck.
Together, we work to understand these patterns with compassion and develop healthier ways of relating, communicating, and responding to one another.
-
Trauma & Emotional Healing
I provide trauma-informed therapy that prioritizes safety, trust, and connection.
Rather than simply focusing on symptoms, we explore the experiences and protective patterns underlying them, helping you develop greater self-understanding, emotional regulation, and a stronger sense of security within yourself and your relationships.
-
Main Approach: Attachment-Based Psychodynamic Therapy
My approach is grounded in attachment theory and psychodynamic therapy. I help clients become curious about the underlying emotions, relationships, and experiences that contribute to current struggles.
-
Integrative Modality: Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you explore the different parts of yourself and the protective roles they may hold, creating space to understand underlying needs, emotions, and experiences and move toward greater self-compassion, emotional flexibility, and connection.
